Record a Meeting, Get the Video, Transcript and Summary
This meeting recorder captures Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet calls two ways: a meeting bot for Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams that joins from your calendar as a visible participant, or the Chrome extension that records tab, screen, mic and camera for recording your own tab with no bot in the call at all. Either way, you get the full video, a transcript, and an AI summary once the call ends.
13,242 meetings were recorded on ScreenApp in the last 90 days. A recording becomes a searchable asset: search across recordings by name or transcript, so your team pulls up an exact moment instead of scrubbing through the video.
What you get with every recording:
- A transcript with speaker identification
- chapters with timestamps, so a long call is split by topic
- AI chat with any recording, so you can ask a question about the call instead of rereading the transcript
- AI notes: action items with an owner and deadline, and decisions listed separately
- Export as PDF, DOCX, TXT, SRT and VTT
- Free plan: one recording of up to 45 minutes
How to Record a Meeting
Pick the mode that fits the call, then let it run.
- Connect your calendar or open the extension - Link Google Calendar and Microsoft Calendar so the bot joins scheduled calls automatically, or install the Chrome extension that records tab, screen, mic and camera for a call you would rather record without a bot.
- Join the call as normal - With the calendar bot, it joins on schedule and everyone on the call can see it, the same way any other meeting bot does. With the extension, click the icon before you join and nothing joins as a participant.
- Get the video, transcript, and summary - Recordings process as the call runs. Stop the recording, or let the bot leave when the call ends, and the video, transcript with speaker labels and timestamps, and AI summary are ready a few minutes later.
Accuracy depends on the audio each participant sends, so a call with several people talking over each other or a poor connection will have more gaps than a clear one-on-one. See how we measure accuracy.

- vs Otter.ai: Otter’s free plan caps you at 300 minutes a month, and Pro starts at $8.33 a month billed annually. ScreenApp’s free plan is one recording of up to 45 minutes, with a calendar bot and a bot-free extension built in rather than an add-on.
- vs Fireflies.ai: Fireflies offers a Chrome extension recording without the Fireflies bot on its free plan, with 400 minutes of storage and 20 AI credits a month. Its Business plan is $19 a month billed annually.
- vs Fathom: Fathom’s free plan has Unlimited recordings and transcriptions, and the paid plan is $16 a month billed annually. ScreenApp adds a bot-free recording option alongside the calendar bot.
- vs Tactiq: Tactiq’s transcriber reads meeting audio from the browser rather than sending a bot into the call. Its free plan gives 10 transcripts a month, and Pro is A$11.42 a month billed annually.
ScreenApp connects to other tools through API keys and webhooks: it works with Zapier, Slack and Notion through webhooks and the API, rather than shipping native CRM connectors.
Who Records Meetings This Way
Remote teams record Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet calls and drop the share link into their workspace so teammates in other time zones can catch up on the video or read the transcript instead of asking for a recap.
Sales teams document demos and discovery calls to coach reps, verify commitments, and pull the transcript into their CRM through API keys and webhooks if their team has that set up.
Project managers capture decisions and action items without taking notes in the meeting. A searchable transcript settles “I thought we agreed” debates in seconds.
Recruiters and hiring managers record candidate interviews with the calendar bot to keep accurate notes, or use the bot-free extension for a call where they would rather not announce a recording.
Legal and HR teams record interviews and review sessions with timestamped transcripts for compliance records and dispute resolution.
FAQ
Is there a free meeting recorder?
Yes. The free plan includes one recording of up to 45 minutes, with the transcript and AI chat on that recording. Paid plans start at $19 a month billed annually and remove the limits.
How do I record a meeting without a bot joining?
Install the Chrome extension that records tab, screen, mic and camera, join the call normally, and click the extension icon. It captures your own tab, screen, mic, and camera, so nothing joins the call as a participant. This is different from the calendar bot, which joins visibly like any other meeting bot.
Does the bot join automatically, or do I have to start it myself?
The calendar bot joins on its own once you connect Google Calendar and Microsoft Calendar: it shows up for each scheduled meeting as a named participant. The Chrome extension is the opposite: you start it yourself before the call, and no bot appears in the meeting.
Does it work with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet?
Yes. The meeting bot for Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams covers all three, and the Chrome extension that records tab, screen, mic and camera works on any platform that plays audio through your browser tab.
Can I get the video, not just the audio or a transcript?
Yes. Both the calendar bot and the Chrome extension capture video as well as audio. You can export the transcript as PDF, DOCX, TXT, SRT and VTT, and the recording itself stays in your library alongside it.
How accurate is the transcription?
ScreenApp’s transcription reaches 99% on clear audio, as measured on the accuracy page. A call with several people talking over each other or a poor connection will bring that down.
How is this different from Zoom’s or Teams’ built-in recording?
Zoom’s and Teams’ own recording gives you a video and, on some plans, a basic transcript, but each is limited to its own platform. This recorder adds AI chat with any recording, speaker identification, and action items with an owner and deadline, and decisions listed separately on top of the recording, and works the same way across Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet.
Are my meeting recordings private?
Yes. Recordings are encrypted in transit and at rest with AES-256, are not used to train AI models, and are only shared if you create a share link. Security controls, including SOC 2 Type 2, are published on the trust center.
For a bot that joins Zoom calls specifically, see the Zoom bot. For a broader look at both recording modes together, the AI meeting assistant covers the same calendar bot and bot-free extension for logging action items and decisions.
